I love doing crafts with my kids but it's so easy to say "no" when you think of the glitter and pom poms that will forever be in the crevices of your home. For Valentines Day this year we had the opportunity to make cards for the elderly in our community (You can get involved HERE.) I wanted to let my kids go wild and create something from their heart. While this article is about making Valentines it's also an encouragement for you. Let them get the glitter out and put stickers upside down. No matter how many googly eyes they use it'll be perfect because it came from their heart and isn't that what love is all about? Without further ado, here's how we made our 2021 valentines:

Material List (Many of these can be found at the Dollar Tree)

Construction Paper

Stick Glue

Glitter (so much glitter)

Pom Poms

Stickers

Glitter Glue

Markers or Colored Pencils

Whatever you can find

Step 1:

Draw and cut a heart.

Step 2:

Create!

Use the glue, pompoms, glitter, or whatever combination you have!

Step 3:

Give from the heart.

Give to the elderly community, friends, family, or whoever you'd like!

Pro tip: If you're planning on mailing it in a regular envelope avoid pom-poms and materials that add thickness.
